FOLLOWING TALK IN PRESENCE OF DIERCTOR HERMANN VASKE
“It’s a feeling of uneasiness like nothing else you’ve ever experienced” – To tell DENNIS HOPPER’s life story without mentioning his many drug-related excesses would only offer half the story of an extraordinary life. Regularly, Hopper professed publicly his trips, allowing deep insights into a life that is usually led behind tall walls on the Hollywood Hills. “In the high phase of my alcohol- and drug-laden madness, practically every day was a near-death experience,” Hopper once said. And strangely enough, it is exactly those sentences and stories that satisfy our voyeuristic longing.
And now he is dead, died in 2010 at the age of 74 in Los Angeles. With “Easy Rider”, his most famous role, he gave a whole generation the promise of happiness and freedom. “UNEASY RIDER” by the director HERMANN VASKE, who works in Frankfurt, is like a roller coaster ride through this exciting, crazy and unique life. With interviews by WIM WENDERS, ISABELLA ROSSELLINI, MICHAEL MADSEN, JULIAN SCHNABEL, ANTON CORBIJN and many more. And, of course: many star-studded film versions exist. However, few documentary films of recent years give such an in-depth insight into the New Hollywood cinema of the late 1960s.
